They might *think* they do, but they don't. A lot of people just get caught up in the moment and say it. Some say it to make the other person happy. But I agree, it should only be said if they mean it and they are in love, or else they are sending out the wrong message to the other person. Hope this helps!

Actually it is a bit overused. Some people mean to be manipulative.
There are also a lot of people (southern like me) who will say luv ya in a friendly manner. Not meaning that I am truly deeply in love with you just luv ya..
there is a big difference between luv and LOVE

HA! Thats a question I have been wondering about since me and my x broke up a month ago. I think that its because they have some sort of hang up with the opposite sex. Like for example they were abandoned by a parent as a child or have an alcoholic parent. Trying to fill a gap with something that wont fit.

Depends..Some people use love ya as a saying these days..Some say it to get something, some say it because they want to be loved back..Some just so they can feel close to someone...There are many reasons why people say it..

Saying "I love you" doesn't always mean that someone is in love with you. I can say "I love you." to a friend, family member, co-worker, anybody that I want to say it to. It can mean that you truly love someone or that you just deeply care for them. Saying "I love you." can make people have mixed feelings. You need to learn how to separate the words to know how it is being said.

A variety of reasons, most likely because they think saying it will get them something they want, like getting laid. I think that's pretty sad.
