One has to be a British or Commonwealth citizen living in the UK to be an MP, and the same criteria holds for PM. Andrew Bonar Law, PM from 1922-23, was born in Canada.

No, unlike the USA, UK is a democracy. Anyone can stand for parliament, and the only stipulation for becoming an MP is that you are over 18 and that the electorate wants you.
The American-born rule for president is anti-democratic. Much as I loathe Arnold Schwarzeneggar, if the US electorate decided he was the right man to be their president, why should their choice be limited by an arbitary rule?

i've got confidence so, he grew to become right into a guy of tangible innovations and if he had lived we'd nevertheless have a Labour social gathering, I see no resemblance to the social gathering immediately and the only I used to take exhilaration in and help. in step with probability I ought to have realised this whilst the 1st politician Blair invited to Downing street grew to become into Margaret Thatcher. i might on no account have believed that Blair a former member of CND might help an unlawful warfare in Iraq, i'm particular John Smith does no longer have executed so.

I don't think so, but will the electorate vote for a party led by such a person. So Scotland beciomes fully independant so far as Clown Brown is concerned. We won't get that lucky.

It is a low value question because the chances of being PM is in the UK 60 000 000 to 1 and in the US, 300 000 000 to 1. Not worth talking about. You have a better chance of winning the lottery.
