Ask your OB to strip your membranes. This will often cause your water to break and labor to start. But honestly, I know being past due stinks...but it is much better to wait until your body is ready. If you get to a point where it is no longer healthy for you or baby, your OB will induce. My son was 10 days late and I was going nuts! He's 11 weeks now. Hang in there!

Never try and do this yourself. There are other meathods you can try to induce labor. Walking, eating spicey foods, Intercourse and the old time meathod that apparantly works well is Castor oil.
The doctor will decide and is the only one that can break the water and at that time may even give you a shot of hormones to induce labor.
Being a week or so past do as annoying and hard as it is is not a medical emergency and your little one will come in due time.

You don't. You let nature take its course. Your doctor won't let you go too long after your due date. Usually it's no more than 2 weeks. For some women, their water never breaks on its own and the doctor has to do it at the hospital. Just be patient.

Your water will break if it's time to break. Mine always had to be broken at labor and delivery. I've always wanted mine to break on it's own but it didn't. Let nature take it's course or let your OB handle it. You could cause something to go wrong or cause infection. Ask your Dr. about inducing you.

This is very dangerous and can result in a serious infection. Please do not try it. If you are overdue you can try walking around a lot.. go to the mall or something and just walk. They actually made me do this at the hospital (do laps walking around the hospital) to make me dilate and make my contractions stronger.
Another thing to try (if it is still comfortable for you) is having sex. Just make sure you are not putting pressure on your belly.
Most ob/gyns won't let you go too far overdue anymore.. usually only a week or two. So if you really feel uncomfortable talk to them about inducing.
It really is best for your baby to come when he/she is ready.. so you should let things go naturally and just relax if you can. Stress is very bad for you and the baby.

You can't break your own water. If the doctor feels it's important for the baby to be born soon, he may break your water, or strip your membranes, or have you induced.

Sorry, but who cares if you're past due, the baby will come when it's ready. Doctors can be wrong about your due date by as much as 2-3 weeks in either direction. If you try to break your water, you can hurt yourself very badly.

the dr has to break your water. just try walking. lots of walking helps to bring on labor. or sex. just try those and see what happens. remember though the baby will come out when its ready to come out. good luck. p.s. not all water bags break on there own.

If you are past your due date, your doc should be able to help you by sweeping your membranes. They can do it in the office and it helps give labor a kick start. You should definitely talk to your doc about your options.
