Does the Mafia counterfeit money?

aside from extortion and loan sharking does the mafia use or make counterfeit money? does anyone know?

Did you hear about how counterfeiters erased the ink from $5 bills and forged them to $100 bills, The Secret Service has not yet released who is doing it. I'd like to know - how about you?

I can not prove it but I am sure the Mob continues to do thinks like counterfeiting. The mob will stop at nothing to enable its members to become more wealthy that is why even though some mobsters stayed out of drugs for years since they thought it was filthy to trap children in drug addictions, that lasted only a short time till the Mafia saw the amount of money they could make on drug trafficking especially since much now goes through the Mob's homeland of Sicily.

I am by no means an expert but I have read that the main source of counterfeit money is foreign governments. Particularly, in the Middle East. From what I have read there were many millions of fake one hundred dollar bills manufactured by Saddam's Iraq and by Iran. The bills were nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.

America decided to just accept the phony currency and not make a stink about it so as not to cause people to loose faith in the dollar. That is the key reason for the radical changes made in our currency in the last few years.

Why would they? Honestly I think the mafia hates counterfeit money more then most people... Nobody loves the smell off cash like a real gangster..
