Yes.... It's actually a metaphor that I use a lot, when I think about my Christianity.
I used to think that God was unfair, damning people to hell. But then I was given the metaphor that my life was going to be judged like a trial... it made me feel like I understood God a little more.
I've broken God's law, just like everyone else, and I must pay the penalty for it. Even though I try to be good, I still break the law sometimes, and can't make up for it with good behavior. If God let me off the hook for no reason, then he'd be an unfair judge, or a corrupt judge.
God can only let those who are not guilty into heaven, or else he wouldn't be perfect.
But, since everyone has broken the law, the only way I can get off the hook is if someone else steps in for me and defends me, and takes my punishment for me.
Since everyone has broken the law, they can't defend me... they can't take my punishment because they've got the same punishment. Only someone who hasn't broken the law can defend me, and that's where Jesus comes in.
Everyone can choose to have Jesus defend them, or they can choose to defend themselves.
Jesus is like my defense attorney... God's the judge... Satan is the prosecutor. Satan might say "God... she broke your law when she cheated on her husband, which you CLEARLY say is wrong! She doesn't deserve to go to heaven!" and Jesus says "I already know about that one, and it's been appealed." No matter what law I've broken, I'm defended by Jesus, and God doesn't send me to Hell, which is what I deserve.
This is just how I view it, and I'm not trying to force my beliefs on anyone. Please don't thumbs down it because it's not what you believe... I like hearing what other people believe more than arguing over who is right and who is wrong.

My whole life has been a series of trials and errors and yes, I am on trial because I have a conscience that continually weighs the good against the bad.....as if I was being constantly cross examined by attorneys with the keen eye of the Judge always on me. And, regardless of the outcome of my trial....my sentence of death is inescapable......but the outcome is good because after death my soul is set free once again to go shopping in the universe.

Very sadly "YES" every single day. Seems like never ending thing, from the day I was born until today.
Life is a challenge, and a struggle, yet I am hanging in with hopes.
Survivor.

i guess you could say that, although i've never put it that way. most of the time, i do end up doing what i want, but in my head, i strongly feel like i cant do things that i want because im afraid of what other people are going to do to me, or what is going to happen if what i do isnt 'right,' etc. its the worst way to live life, it has caused me much anxiety, and i'd love to get rid of those feelings.
