What people are 'supposed' to be and what they really are...two different things. The 'supposed to be' category is made up of little truisms that are found when you look at one specific item or trait. Since people are made up of more than just one or two traits, it ignores other aspects of that person. Since women ARE better at verbalizing than men, then they are supposed to be verbally gifted...but what about other things that are going on? Since women are multitaskers, they may notice subtle cues that we men don't. They may pick up on facial expressions or other body language that change the meaning of the communication entirely. To them a facial expression along with a spoken word might mean something completely different than the way we would take it just going by the words she is using. I think the list you were looking at is one of those that make fun of the difference in the way we communicate.

Here's something you may consider that could help your understanding of this,
It's quite possible that the claim 'women are better verbalists and men are better do-ers" is actually stereotypical or, at best, exaggerations of the differences between men and women. Just because women develop their verbal skills sooner, doesn't indicate that they are actually better communicators (just like the fact that boys develop team coordination ability in sports sooner doesn't make them better athletes in the long run than girls). Communication and emotional intelligence (i.e. defining how they feel) are skills that can be cultivated rather than innate talents.
Some things of our American culture could be an influence, such as the power dynamic between men and women. Such that, things like "if she says this, she really means this" is just a way for some to manipulate the meanings of things to give them an edge. If we're playing a game, and I keep changing the rules, how can you win?
Also, in American culture there are still quite a bit of lingering stereotypes that women are "flighty" or "emotional" and perhaps this causes parents to not emphasize in their duaghters the need for clarity in communication and little prompting for real internal investigation rather than "doing what your heart tells you".

I don't think it's scripted, I just think some things are just common to women's personalities and makeup. Just like men are not so good with expressing themselves emotionally....it's part of a man's makeup and upbringing. Overall, women are more emotional and men are more logical. That's why they have such a hard time understanding each other. We have to learn to communicate in their way and understand their emotional way of thinking. There are books and websites devoted to how to communicate and understand both sexes. We all have to learn to relate on each others level and that's not easy.

I didn't know it was considered "gifted" to be able to communicate with others I think its a natural given..I do however understand what your trying to convey..Some things are logical in a situation, other things are spontaneous...The logical aspects are fairly easy to express and understand, that may be why they seem scripted...

we are not so gifted....we are just more willing to explore our feelings, share our thoughts and let a tear run down our faces......men on the other hand for the most part find expressing emotion a weakness and fear it

when i say i'm fine.. it usually means i don't want to talk about it. i'm not a woman who can express verbally how i feel. it's hard for me to express my feelings.. i'm getting better though. i usually can express myself better with pen and paper! especially if it's a very emotional topic!
