That logo is designed to look like both a righty and a lefty.Yeah I spent alot of time looking at it to one day before I finally asked the question myself.

I think the ambiguity was intentional on the part of the designer. That's also part of the reason, I believe, why they've never been able to confirm that it was designed from a certain person (eg. Killebrew).
When I first glance at it, I guess I see it as a righty, but that may be because I think it's modeled after Harmon Killebrew. MLB has said it's not supposed to be anyone in particular, but he's always been the one most suspected of being the model.

It can go both ways, like the NBA guy, he could be dribbling with his right or left hand. I always look at the MLB guy as a lefty, not a righty.

At first glance it looks like a righty because it looks like you would be looking over the first batter's box, i.e. the lefty's side, but it can be either, but since I'm a righty, that's what comes to mind first, and being it's the dominant side, meaning that's what most people are, that's my logic.

Harmon Killebrew is in fact the model for the logo, but MLB won't say this because then they'd have to pay royalties, or could be forced to remove his image etc. Killebrew is of course right handed.

Harmon Killebrew is the model for the MLB logo. He was in the Commissioner's office one day and was asked to be in the logo. The info is from Dave Niehaus via Killebrew himself. If that's not good enough for you, tough. . . .
