When ever I meet someone I see orb's 1black 1white why?

I see the person hoplding them and it gives me an inside to how good or bad they are, I want to know why? or what it means?

too much sci-fi channel? actually i do remember reading about this in a fantasy novel. piers anthony maybe? not sure. but as for what they mean, not a thing given they don't exist.

sorry but as a psychologist i'm inclined to dismiss anything that is unable to be empirically verified and magic balls clearly fall into that category.
