Since goldfish are coldwater fish they usually like a temp of 65-70 degrees. At that temp, the water has more oxygen in it. If the temp is over that I'd add an airstone.

I don't even have a heater in my 10 gallon tank for my goldfish, and they are doing fine, 3 of them I have already since 4 years and they grew a lot :-)
I fill the tank up regularly with tapwater and clean out my filters about once a month and put "Easy Balance" in the tank as directed every time I fill it up

room temperature is the best but my room is always 74 to 80 F and well get higher during the summer but they are doing just fine. The colder the better.

Colder or Room tempature...I had gold fish and before you put them in the tank just let the water sit for a day making it room tempature then put the fish in and enjoy
