All who never give up their efforts to make their life, the lives of the one close to them and the condition of the world at large sacrifice their precious moments of life for the cause; they all fight for world peace. We all are fighting for peace, as we live in peace and enable others around us to do the same. If my intentions are peaceful and I do my best then that might be the best way to ensure world peace and harmony. It might actually be easier to give my life for the cause but living all my life and making efforts I reckon is tougher but far better in value.
You are an important citizen of the world. You are mindful of the presence of many other good people in this world. Then all you do would one way or the other effect other all other people. Our lives might seem significant only within the limits of family, friends and acquaintances, but it nevertheless is life like the lives of many other people.
We have been told how people of the ancient times, and the ones of not so ancient times sacrificed their lives for the causes the fruits of which we have with us today, as our lives and the way we are, and things will get even better. The spirit of sacrifice by few runs through lives of many keeping them alive. And this is what we should do – to live the best we can, to keep the spirit alive and peace will come.

No, because doing so would limit free thought, people naturally disagree with each other and that causes the richness which exists in society.
I do not share some religions aspirations for peace and harmony to be installed for us, or for certain people to be eliminated from it.
However I would sacrifice my life if it led to the aspirations I would have for the world, and the creatures within it, including the humans. This would allow the world to continue as it is currently doing, but when people die they become nothing except thought, with perfect memory, and creativity, and eventually everyone would create their own worlds with their thoughts, and the creatures, people, and living things they create would believe they existed just as we believe we exist.
I would sacrifice my life if it meant that everyone had nothing at death, and nothing was everything. If every living thing became as a God to all they imagined in their own right.
They would be in perfect harmony once they found their way after death.
But each dead person would create new worlds in their imagination, and they would realize the rewards which came with death, so it wouldn't matter how much conflict your creations caused among each other, or if they suffered for 70 years or more, because what it would lead to is eternal ecstasy. And eternity makes a million years but a moment.

Is world peace and harmony worth a human life? I think if that life is freely given, yes.In the gospels, Jesus says that a man can have no greater love that to lay down his life for his friends.I think we can all agree on that not just Christians. Therefore, if someone was willing to sacrifice themselves for world peace wouldn't they be saving themselves and humanity? Wouldn't that be a great day for all?
Who among us, individually, would be willing to be that person?Maybe only those who believe something like the above but that's a lot and we wouldn't have to look far.So the answer to your question is ' Yes'.

I would ... but I'm not sure how would anything ever convince me that my death would make that happen! ... or death of anyone ... I am not a "believer" ... If I thought that this world would be at least a bit better place without me, I'd leave ... right now ... but if I thought that this world would be a -perfect- place if there wasn't for me, I'd go ask for a professional help ... that way of thinking is too egocentric, and not healthy ... nobody is that important, and the world doesn't revolve around me
