The military is about fighting.. therefor if you are a pacifist why would you even join.. its not about playing checkers and goint to parties .. its about fighting for our freedom and keeping OUR home safe!

Because they're stupid,that may be blunt but it's true. If anyone thinks the comparison is valid they're a moron,plain and simple. I did hear one comedian kind of turn this on it's head in a way,he said we should ban abortion and anyone that wanted could give their baby to the government who would then raise them as soldiers. Then if we ever went to war if the person was killed send the mother a note informing her that the abortion she wanted was now completed. Wonder if Hitlery could get elected on that platform.

It isn't so much as a comparison as it is a need to understand why one type of killing is wrong and the other isn't. I would not abort but I don't think anyone has the right to legislate such a personal choice. Nor would I encourage a young person to go into the military to be maimed or murdered or to murder. In this I also wouldn't discourage them to volunteer. I would ask them if they are prepared to take another human's life. This is also a very personal choice. As a US of A citizen I stand by your right to see it differently.

I'm prolife also, but here is a comparison we have to be able to respond to if we want to change any minds:
Comparison: Innocent lives are destroyed in war as well as abortion for the sake of defending freedom (political or economic freedom in the case of war, and sexual or reproductive freedom in the case of abortion).
One response: In war we are defending ourselves against an enemy who is also trying to kill us or is a threat, we are not trying to destroy innocent lives; abortions are intended to destroy innocent lives that are no threat to us.
Some assume prolifers are also prowar (they never heard of http://www.consistent-life.org or other liberal prolifers), and claim prolifers just want more there to be more babies born so they can become soldiers to fight wars. If they refuse to liberate their minds from that conspiracy theory, all you can do is point out that those who become soldiers at least get 18 years to live before joining the military, plus GI Bill educational benefits to use in improving their lives. Abortion prevents them from having any life to improve.

Abortion is a mother's decision. Remember, it is her baby. This baby, for nine months, is basically a paracite to her body. It can't surivive without her. She has the rights to choose what happens to her and her baby during her pregnancy.
And government and the courts have no right telling them different. They souldn't even have a say in it.

because arguing it from the prespective of a woman's right vs a fetus's rights is a battle they know they can't win so they try to narrow the discussion to life, death and murder.
Interestingly, they defend the fetus but once it's out it's not their problem and you better be able to raise that kid on your own cause they aren't going to care about them again until they reach military age.
Hum, there is a connection, stop abortion to provide future warmongers with an army.

I have never once done that and it is no secret that I lean left. Why must you generalize? It takes so much away from the substance of your "question".

How is it absurd? You call liberals baby killers and Bush has killed thousands of babies and pregnant women carrying fetus' in IRaq. How do you NOT see the connection? Abortion doesn't kill babies, but bombing civilians does kill babies.
