Your baby is well protected and cushioned in her amniotic fluid surrounded by your uterus as well as your skin, bones, tissue, and muscle. Putting anything cold or hot on your abdomen will not cause her to react since these things do not touch her directly. Just as with newborns, babies in utero sleep a lot. It seems doubtful to me that shining a flashlight on your abdomen can even penetrate through your body, through the amniotic fluid and make it to her face. Even if it could and she reacts to the light, it would most likely be just to close her eyes if they were open. Yes, she will move when she wants to. If your baby is asleep and you or someone else pushes on your stomach to get her to move, it is likely she will not respond, or if she does, it may just be to move to a position away from the pushing and the prodding. As long as your baby is moving every day, she is doing just fine. Everything sounds normal to me.

The baby will move when she wants to and only when she wants to. ppl pushing on her makes her mad, hot or cold sensations she may not feel yet. shining flashlight? i've never heard of doing that. but remember she is her own person and has her own personality. she will move only when she wants to not when someone wants her too. good luck.

it's normal. the baby can't see flashlights or feel hot or cold sensations through skin, fluid, etc. she's well protected by all that stuff. besides, how would YOU like it if people pushed you to get you to move?

As long as the baby is moving regularly every day I wouldn't worry. If your really concerned talk to your doctor. My little guy was the same way and now I have a healthy happy baby. Best of Luck with your little one.

The flashlight and stuff never worked for me. Even when i'm talking to it trying to get my baby to move. Just moves whenever it feels like it and that's perfectly fine. Newborns are usually hard to disturb while they are sleeping.

Yes, it's very normal. How would she feel hot or cold sensations through your skin, fat, and amniotic fluid? She is very well protected and can't interact through all those protective layers.
As long as she moves every day, there is absolutely nothing to worry about.
