I was 10 when I started, but the girl who lived next door to me didn't start until she was 17. It all depends on the individual. If you're about 16 and not started talk to your GP about it. there may not be a problem, but it's easier to check.

There are many changes that your body goes through before you start menstruating, such as vaginal discharge, breast development, hair under your arms and in your pubic area and a growth spurt.

Although genetics play a big role in physical maturation, it is not the only factor. Your environment and your health are also players. If you have not started to develop your secondary sex characteristics, such as breast development, hair under your arms and in your pubic area, a whitish vaginal discharge, by the time you are 14 you should see your Doctor. If you are not menstruating by the time you are 16, I advise you seek advice from your Doctor. Otherwise, relax and enjoy this time.

Everyone is different. Periods can start at any time between the ages of about 10 and 16. Only your own body can decide when is the right time for your periods to start.

Since you'll only have a general idea of when you'll have your period, you might want to do some planning. Most girls will use pads for their first period. Your first period will probably be fairly light so Always® Ultra Normal would be a good choice of pad. It's a good idea to keep a pad or two hidden in your bag or school locker . so you won't be caught by surprise when your period arrives.

My daughters doctor advised that these days, 9 and 10 is the age that girls are starting but the normal would be between 11-13 years of age. He did state that if girls don't start by the age of 16, they should consult with their doctor. I hope this helps.

The average age is anywhere between 9-16. If she has not started her period by the time she is 16 she should consult with her doctor.

If she hasn't started by time she is 16 she should see her doc just to be sure everything is ok. The age for starting your period varies with each person so there is no specific age when a girl will start her period.

Some times you can get an idea from the women in the mother's family. Girl's bodies are changing now, due to the past introduction of hormones in animal feed. There may be younger age levels than 4 or 5th grade levels.
The later it starts, there tends to be an earlier menopause date.

There is no set age.
Everyone is different, though if you are aged around 18-20 then it might be advisable to have a check up.
