Traditionally sculpture would have been carved out of stone. Stone is a naturally formed material. The most popular stone to carve is marble (statuaria) white/grey and was formed by the laying down of tiny creatures skeletons(calcium)millions of years ago and then with time, heat and pressure transforming into a solid rock.(metamorphosis's). because the rock was formed in layers it has a "bed" and is flawed. If you carve an arm or leg in a piece of marble it is exposed to failure. If I sculpt a figure I will make the legs together or the arms close to the body to strengthen the form. Most torso's are carved with out arms. It is a bit arty/science to focus on the heart , soul and mind of the subject. Some of the famous armless pieces may have been damaged by war, time and natural disasters. I would argue that because of this a sculpture without arms is OK with the observer. Miguel.

Oh how sweet, Nessie! Although, If Emmett and I had a child who documented what they saw, it would be a little more R-rated! All im saying is that Emmett and I express our love for each other, not just emotionally/verbally, but physically too- and we dont hide it! Say hi to your mommy for me Love you nessie! *hugs renesmee* EDIT: I liked what you wrote!

Most weren't made that way. They fell off over time.
