What happened to music? Why cant people write songs like they did from about 1950-1985. What happened to the music. It is nearly when rap took mainstream it ruined the whole industry and rock lost its way maybe? Even country music has changed. Punk rock took hold and now is emo. What happened. I am a musician and shurn out songs just like the ones from the 60s and 70s and when i play country i play it just like classics like "Old dogs & children & watermelon wine" by Tom T Hall in 1973. Why has music died along with the spirit of the 60s and 70s.
Also whenever i play "newaged" people my music they are gobsmacked over what they think is a new style of music, it is ridiculous. Get these pretty faced idiots off the air and get the real music back on. Does anyone know what happened to music, id sure like to know.!

dude, hear you. I'm 14 and I'm buying vinyl. it sounds so much better. as sad as it is, i think that this is all KISS's fault. dont get me wrong, i love KISS. they were a great band. but they capitalized on everything. anything that they could put theyre name on, they could. and they made a LOT of money doing it, which made other bands realize that music was the carrer to be in. kiss made it comercial, they took the soul out of music. bands are only in it for the money. the only kind of music i know of that is all for the fans (or at least mostly) is metal. maybe im wrong, but thats the way i see it. its all to comercial, and too much money can be made doing absolutely nothing but selling out and going with the flow.

There is alot of good music out there but you probably won't find alot of on mainstream radio. I think there were alot of good talented bands and song writers after 1985. Red Hot Chili Peppers, Social Distortion (Mike Ness is a great song writer), Tiger Army, Tool, Modest Mouse, Nirvana. I don't know what kind of music you're into but I am into everything and I can find good artists all the time..

The music is still out there, but will not get it from large record companies. Look on line for independent artist and labels.

unfortunately......it is the state of affairs today. To quote Reel Big Fish:
You're gonna go to the record store
you're gonna give 'em all your money
radio plays what they want you to hear
they tell me it's cool but I just don't believe it...
there are those rare bands and artists out there, but they are rarely popular or 'mainstream.'
