Who says that it's "easy" to get a divorce??????

Obviously, some of the previuos answers never been divorced. It's hell, it's expensive, it takes foreever and it hurts.

There are more divorces because MORAL VALUES seem to be out of style nowdays. Adultery, gambling, drugs seem to be progresively facilitaded by sociery, the internet and TV, and glamorized on TV .

Good luck

Actually, divorce rates have remained pretty steady for the last 30 years. They are still common, but they are really not getting any higher. Celebrities have nothing to do with it, either, because they have been around for decades and decades.

The truth is simply this: some people get married when they are not ready, are too immature, or are not stable enough. Some people get married at the right time, but they change. Some people get married to the wrong person. Some people get married but have too many problems to maintain the marriage. Some people get married with unrealistic expectations. Some people get married and are broken apart by economic changes and stress. Some people just drift apart. There are many, many different reasons for why someone might get a divorce. There is only one good reason you would stay married: because you love one another, and are willing to put in the effort to keep it that way. That is why divorces are so common.

The number of divorces are rising because people have changed. My parents generation hardly anyone ever got divorced. They just worked out thier problems. Not to mention there wasn't the internet, dating sites, etc. People these days take the easy way out. If your unhappy, leave...there is no value in marriage vows or morality anymore. People no longer understand what it means to RESPECT others or take the consequences for thier actions. There are excuses for EVERYTHING these days. When I was in school, no kids were on Ridlin or carrying weapons or even had thoughts of doing harm to others. People have turned ugly, selfish and immoral. What the hell happened in the last 30 years??????

No, freedom is to blame. People have the freedom to divorce and will take it if needed. In the past, people were not free to divorce even when divorce was needed for the health of the individuals and children involved. Besides, divorce statistics have actually been lowering for the past few years. Probably because fewer people are getting married or married so quickly, premarital sex is being accepted in society and therefore no one is getting married simply because they want to make their sex 'right' or because they knocked up a lover, which has always been a stupid and irresponsible idea.

No, celebrities aren't to blame. I think it has to do with the changing times. Look at the 50s. Hardly anyone got divorced in that socially repressing era. Now-a-days, when people get tired of who they're with, they don't feel as guilty for leaving them.

Divorces might also be on the rise because we are a career-driven society. Our focus is on our jobs and success, not on keeping our marriages together (of course, this isn't true in all cases).

I think because women are not forced to be as dependent on men as they have been in the past. That, and women are generally weak minded, get married to the wrong guy for the wrong reasons, and have little or no accountability.

Men haven't changed much over time. Feed us, sex us, and don't annoy us and we're pretty much good to go. But women are by nature emotionally unstable, so much so, that they are constantly asking their friends what to think.

If you ladies are ready to take up the sword for your gender, keep this in mind, "Why is it that most women don't like other women?"

Amazes me, how when going to the alter, women will wax on about true love, forever, till death do us part......blah, blah, blah. Women just dream of the attention they get on that wedding day, they are attention addicts! Then, after the realities of marriage set in, they tell themselves, "I'm just not happy now, and I deserve to be."
Just nonsense, and then they drag everyone along into the train wreck of divorce.

Celebs are just symptomatic of this social tragedy, I think that it's epidemic.

Why are divorces so common? Women make poor choices and aren't committed to the institution of marriage. Pride seems to be their issue.

Because marriage is work and most people are too lazy.....always out for a quick fix or perfection in a person and there is no such thing as a perfect person, we ALL have flaws.
Celebrities have nothing to do with the divorce rate, it is just more publicized as people go thru divorces every day.

Because there are no longer any consequences from people or society. ANd this benefits men, which women don't get yet.
When was the last time that you rejected anyone because they had an affair and divorced? Never. Exactly. That is my point.

I read an article stating that the divorce rate is only rising for uneducated people without bachelor's degree. The rate for educated people (bachelor's or above) is significantly less than those who are uneducated.
