I also think that parents should teach their kids to think for themselves and not absorb everything the TV tells them.
But I agree with you 100%.

I agree with you Billy, and as for Luisa's comment, if parents paid close attention and protested all the sex and violence that they let their kids watch as much as they blame fast food and junk food for 'making people fat', the world could be a much better place. Bottom line. Everyone has a choice. You don't HAVE to let your kid have everything they want. Parents are the ones ultimately responsible for feeding their kids right, NOT fast food and General Mills. jeeeeez Society has its priorities all mucked up. In addition, I'd like to add that I am a firm believer of everything in moderation (when it comes to food). Parents can still let their kids have an occasional treat and also give them ample opportunity to play outside, encourage them to get involved in sporting events, take them to outdoor activities, etc.

I'll take the soapbox....Thank you.
They don't know how to raise children...so they plant them in front of the TV...takes the responsibility of of them. God forbid they accept the personal responsibility of teaching the child and raising them with values and respect.
As my wise old Mother would say.....
'Just because you can HAVE a child....doesn't mean you SHOULD!'
Sorry...went on a tangent there....Next for the soapbox?

or how about not buying these cereals for your kids. i don't know many youngins who would go to the store to by a huge box of coco puffs with their own money...or tell the kids the truth that if you eat nothing but junk you will most likely have heath problems that will make your life miserable. and show them the consequences for their actions instead for shielding children all their lives. it's like the saying goes "life is tough get a helmet"

My husband grew up with no tv. He listed to the radio and loved the old time stories. He read, played outside and helped his parents with chores. Nothing wrong with that. He is a great person today, thats all I can say.

I can believe it Billy. It's the way everything is today. Everything is too easy, and it's always somebody else's fault.
I'll leave it at that and won't join you on the soapbox. That rant would take entirely too long . . .

Well, the parents can't accept the fact that they are really the one's responsible so they blame it on any thing they can... this time it's cereal. Next week... who knows!

Because they are too lazy to take their kids outside and they think they can win a bunch of money from these companies.

Billy that's right up there with the freak who sued McDonald's because she was stupid enough to spill hot coffee in her lap. This society is in need of serious therapy, if not stronger meds! LOL
