I have been using ground flaxseed as a recommendation from my dietitian. I eat one TBS mixed in to yogurt each day. It has a nutty flavor to it and I think it is pretty good. You can also mix it in to cereal, add it to baked goods such as muffins or pancakes, blend in to juice or smoothies, add to meatloaf or meatballs, and sprinkle on salads. It is a good source of fiber, lignans (an antioxidant), and Omega-3 Fats. I have high cholesterol and glucose intolerance. Eating fish high in Omega-3 fats is recommended to help lower cholesterol, but I really don't care for any fish that much, so I take fish oil tablets and use ground flaxseed to help. Because it is high in fiber, you will want to use moderation in giving it to your baby. Perhaps begin with 1/4 tsp. mixed in with his breakfast cereal, added to some yogurt or applesauce or add a couple TBS to a batch of muffins. You can gradually increase the amount if he tolerates it well and likes it. Here is a website I found with some good information http://www.daawat.com/resources/cookingforhealth/flaxseed4.htm
