what would a to and fro trip from India - US - India cost, if I book tickets 2-3 months in advance.

It would cost about 40 to 50 K. Try with your travel agent. They can tell you which airline giving the best deal.

Try the agent like TCI, Thomas Cook

As for the Airline....VirginA and Delta are good.

Ticket fare will depend upon from which Airport in USA you want to travel and the period of your travel. Some of the airlines offer discounted tickets during lean season.

However, you can get a round trip ticket to India from USD
1200/- to 1500/-. Singapore Airlines, Air-India, Delta Airlines etc.are some of the good airlines.

I think you could buy a ticket for Rs.40K to 70K depend on what class you would like to travel

If you are flying from the NY area it would cost you around $1400-1500, the good flights are air-india, delta, and virgin airlines.
