Edgar Cayce- the sleeping prophet... He got that date from the mayan callendar. The most accurate callendar (accurate to within a few seconds) ends on that day.
-Nostradamus didnt use hypnotic trance, he learned things by scrying with a black mirror. (I've got one, they're really fascinating)

Yeah it was Cayce, but other people have done it throughout history, including, (most notably) Nostradamus.
