I went and did a 3D/4D thingy yesterday...

And when my little girl realized what we were doing she would do everything in her ability to cover her face. Hands... umbilical cord... everything. So without warning the tecnision uses the little wand thing to push up and down on my baby... pretty much on her face trying to get her to move about. ( This is the second one I've done and the first one did the same. ) I let the first one go thinking... she's trained in this. It's her job. And I even after feeling a bit odd... and asking here if everyone thought it was ok... I returned for the redo. ( My mother spent 130$ on it... I felt sort of obligated... ) This time around after the woman continued to do that... I asked her to stop, and delt with the rather poor photos I had of my daughter. I'm now sitting at home watching the videos and instead of being completely entraced by my little girll moving about - I'm disgusted by the shaking of the screen when she's bouncing my baby around.

My question is... how well protected is the baby in the womb? Could she have physically harmed my baby? This is so stupid cause now I'm all worried. I should have stuck with my instinct and not returned for the redo. Has anyone had a similar experience with Ultrasound techs. doing the same?

Thanks so much! I think I just needed the comfirmation that she's very much protected, even though I've read it before.

Now I'm just kind of bummed about the video... I can only watch the first 5 min, because the rest is just my baby being shaken around. Oh well... I'm sure I'll replace it with plenty of new footage when she arrives. Thanks again!

The baby is extremely well protected. It would take a pretty severe blow to cause harm. My wife and I also did a 3D/4D Ultrasound and he hid completely during the first attempt. We went back a 2nd time for free and it went great (I even have a short video (GIF) on my myspace (linked in my profile). We had a healthy 9lb. 7oz. boy on September 3, 2006 and he's doing very well.

you can take a fairly hard tumble and the fetus could be ok...not recommended, but the likelihood is that fetus would be ok. So I wouldn't worry that the tech hurt you child in any way by pushing on your stomach. On the other hand I might be inclined to complain about her bedside manner and her roughness to her superiors. Some people just don't have a tactful touch...so they really shouldn't be in a field where they handle other human beings. Hehehe...maybe better suited for veterinary fields.

She was just trying to get you your moneys worth, she didn't harm the baby.
The baby is surrounded by a sack of fluid that's pretty large, I wouldn't worry about damage. I do understand that it made you worry and uncomfortable, but she didn't do any harm=)

The little one does not have to breath to outlive in utero. The amniotic fluid is swallowed by means of the little one and recycled by means of it is urine. The amniotic fluid serves as safety for the little one, floating round in there for 9 months. All the little one's vitamins and minerals/oxygen come from the placenta, hooked up to the little one by means of the umbilical wire. I have noticeable my toddlers "train breath" by means of looking my belly in overdue being pregnant. My physician advised me it was once a signal that the little one's lungs have been maturing and she or he was once simply getting able for external the womb.

Ask your doctor. You'd be surprised at how well protected the baby is in those circumstances. Minor pushing isn't going to do anything.

The baby will not be harmed from that situation.
