If you go on the tour do they show you the place where the prisoners escaped? Do you think they lived? What do you think?

San Francisco Bay is cold, it has strong currents and sharks. The odds would have been against them. If they got into the water on an incoming tide, however, escape would have been much easier because the tide would have carried them toward land. Otherwise they had a strong chance of being washed out to sea. No bodies were ever found, no trace of them exists, so as hard as it would have been, I think they probably escaped successfully.

the seas are rough around there and they doubt all of them made it to land safely
