It is the end of the Mayan Long Count calendar and has been used by the Mayan for more that 3,000 years..
It is not the end of the world by any means, it is the end of a
26,000 year cycle. The calendar is a chart of the "Progression of Human Consciousness".......or human evolution and enlightenment. At this time Earth in it's normal orbit will pass over or conjoin the Galactic Center located in the Milky-way.
This will increase vibration (all is vibrational tone and color)
and thus it is said we move into a Higher Vibration or dimension when this occurs. The calendar ends at this time because it is the end of the 3rd/4th dimensional vibration and that reality; time after this point will be the 5th dimension and a new interpretation of reality in higher vibration.
It might be wise for all here to take the time to read about this first hand, and compare it to what philosophers historians and the holy books said about this time!!!

Actually, I would suggest typing that date into your search engine... A lot is happening in the winter months of that year.
NASA has said that a comet should near miss us... the closest they've seen is what they're predicting. And the Mayans were incredible astrologers. They probably saw the near miss the first time and realized that the next time it came around it would hit (Hey if it's that close, I can't blame their writing end of days!). I believe that it wasn't truly end of days though, I believe that it was considered a new age, begun by the destruction of one of their gods... You'd have to double check that one though...
Also, depending on who you're talking too, the Sun's Magnetic field is expected to suddenly shift 180 degrees, Earth's Magnetic field is going to shift 180 degrees, there will be nearly 5 times more sun-storms, and these storms will be harsh enough to effect us negatively throughout the entire year. There are also speculations that at least two large volcanoes will be created or made re-active in that year.
Quite honestly, I will watch the whole year through with interest in seeing exactly what happens.
Do I think the world will end? No.
But do I think that humanity may have to make some changes in the way we live as well as noting that the universe is a large, beautiful and dangerous place to live sometimes. Hell Yeah.

It is the Mayans prediction to the end of the world
Interesting the "bible code" which is in ancient hebrew scriptures also predicts that the world is going to end .
It would seem that the mayans believe the same thing.
Wow the bible and the mayans say the world is going to end that year.
Hopefully its just superstition I still want to do many other things that I need to be ALIVE for but if the end of the world were to come I guess I would not try to have any regrets.
How weird is it that two things predict the same thing.
Could they BOTH be wrong or is it just coincidence.
I guess we won't know until it happens

It is the date that some Mayans over 300 years ago predicted would be the end of the world. When times get tough, people start making predictions about the end of times. It is common and there are examples of it throughout history. Like all the other people throughout history that thought they knew when the end of the world was going to be, they are wrong.

It is the end of the Myan calendar. We will be needing some very scholastic individuals to write the calendar into the future. Some say that makes it the end of time and existence. Rather it is an ending, and they always precipitate new beginnings.

Problem is, there was more information about what would happen that day but, the Spanish Bishops had it all destroyed.
The Mayans used a calendar that was more accurate than the one we use today, no leap year. Most likely World War III or something like that.

Well for one thing december 21, 2012 would be a winter solstice. but it's also the day that some people say will be the apocalypse and the end of the human race. although i personally believe it's a load of garbage.

It's the day before I turn 38. I don't care what the Aztecs, or perhaps the Mayans, I can't remember, say about the end of the world. I'm turning 38 the next day.

Yes, the Mayan Calendar ends that day (supposedly the end of the world), and it's the first dat of winter, and it is a Black Sabbath in the community of witchcraft.
