I don't get the US foreign policy in terms of nuclear weapons...
The US says Iran can't have nuclear weapons 'cuz it threatens the US security and its in the US national interest to make sure Iran doesn't have any...

alright... what about Iran's national interests... the US is NOT the only country with national interests... (surprise!!!)

I don't mean to defend radical islamists or any other fanatics but i'm talking about country's rights to defend itself...(as often used by the US government)... if the US has nuclear weapons... why shouldn't Iran be allowed to have nuclear weapons to defend itself if it feels threaten by the US which is a nuclear superpower? I think Iran has a very legitimate reason to feel threaten by the US...

I really don't get these double standards....

I dont defend terrorist either, but America believes it rules the WORLD. I dont understand these double standards. Lately America has proven ONE thing- We stick our nose in places it doesnt belong, and in the mean time we have enough work we can be doing on OUR OWN COUNTRY!! Our Government rushed to the aid of other countries quicker then it rescues its own...(Katrina VS. Tsunami.. 1 day to get food and water VS. 3 days to get food and water). I guess the Government feels as though the U.S. owns the world beings that we try to "fix" and "save" every other country...NEWSFLASH- IRAQ DOESNT WANT OUR HELP- THEY HATE US- WE ARE DIENG FOR NOTHING!!! When will we learn to keep our nose where it belongs? Its all very sad.

This is why - "As the imam said, Israel must be wiped off the map."

That was and never would be said by a person in America that has control over our Nuclear weapons about Israel or any other country, period.

Ask yourself this, who would rather have as a next door neighbor based on their public statements, Iranian President with a nuke or President Bush. I know in some way in your twisted mind your gonna justify your opinion to try and make a moral equivalence between Bush and Ahmadinejad, but your not be able to do it without coming across as just bitter and angry that you just don't like the current administration for policy decisions. Yet if given the opportunity you don't have the stones to try and step up and be a leader yourself, but you are sure willing to cast stones from the back row.

rant over.

None of the people in the original nuclear club want anyone who wasn't in it before to join. It's not just hypocrisy, although it is, it's because the more of the darn things that exist the more likely it is that somebody will use one! But the big powers aren't willing to give theirs up because then if somebody else still had one they could hold everybody else hostage, and so on, and so on, ad nauseam.

The genie's out of the bottle. All we can do is hope we can keep it out of the hands of madmen, which is unlikely in the long run, sadly.

Yes, it's curious, isn't it? Considering that the U.S. is the only country ever to have used nuclear bombs on another country (twice), and they never let any other country forget who has the most nukes (and will possibly use them), the U.S. is the utmost in hypocrisy.
This is how the rest of the world sees it.

Welcome to the Left! You're questioning our government, so the Right will soon go after you for your lack of patriotism and inability to blindly support everything our administration does. The reasoning goes like this: We're the good guys, and they're the bad guys, so we can do anything we want to them. Logic is the first victim, and truth dies in its wake...

Because we had ours before the non proliferation treaty was signed. Iraq and Iran both signed it in the 1960's agreeing not to pursue nuclear weapons.

The same reason we try to keep guns out of the hands of felons. It's foolish to let evil people have the means to cause us injury.

you set up your question with a flawed premise..US interest
is not the reason why Iran cannot have nukes..

so there isn't a responsible answer for you..that you'll accept.

Iran hates people and other countries different to them. The USA has not come out and called them infidels and said they all need to die. Iran has.
