How many games were released for games consoles throughout the years?

Question

How many games were released in total for the following consoles:
Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800 and Atari ST
The ColecoVision, Vectrex, Neo Geo and 3DO
The NES, SNES, Nintendo 64 and Gamecube.
The SEGA Master System, Mega Drive and Mega CD, Saturn and Dreamcast.
The PlayStation, Playstation 2 and finally the XBox.

I know it's a lot to ask but I am curious, also if anyone knows totals for consoles I've not mentioned then that would be nice to know too.

However I am looking for numbers, rough as they may be, I don't want game lists, I'm not going to count them, the information is there somewhere but I've had no luck finding it, I'm only really bothered about the older consoles, I'm not really that bothered about consoles newer than, say, 4th gen. I only put the 5th gen + ones there because I am just looking for numerical comparison.

Wiki has everything. Here's a link to lists of games for each console. Some of the systems you mentioned are still releasing games so you won't get a final total for those.

I just want to express my support for the first answer, it's a good one, but don't forget the Wii, the PS3, and the 360--and keep in mind that since we are starting a new console cycle, whatever number you come up with is going to skyrocket within the year.
