What the heck is the stuff inside of lava lamps made out of...and don't tell me lava!! = )

And I have no clue why they put this question under Home & Garden > General - Home & Garden.
They won't let me change it either!!

LOL, it is wax! As a kid I always wondered that too.
Just good old wax. Not sure what the liquid is though.
Some kind of oil.

The liquid in vegetable oil; the "lava" is paraffin wax. Actually, this was on the history channel a couple of weeks ago.
