Reporting Social Security Disability Fraud - before doing so, read this first

The other my day wife, who is a social security field office claims rep, told me that someone called her office with the desire to report a case of fraud. The "informant" stated that she knew her neighbor was on disability benefits and the fact that he could take his trash out to the curb and bring groceries into his home from the car was clear proof that he was not, in fact, disabled.

I tend to get very irritated when I hear or read about nonsense like this and I really have to wonder why some individuals have nothing better to do than consider the legitimacy or illegitimacy of someone else's disability status.

For anyone who may be considering making a fraud report, please consider the following before doing so:

1. If you know someone is receiving social security disability benefits, do you know why? In other words, do you know why they were approved for disability? Chances are you don't.

2. Do you know what their functional restrictions and limitations are? In other words, do you know how their condition limits their ability to engage in daily activities? Do you know whether or not bringing in the groceries causes unrelenting pain for hours afterwards in an individual with severe degenerative disc disease? Most likely you don't much about their condition and how it specifically affects them.

3. Do you know whether or not their disabling condition is physical in nature or if their impairment is mental ( psychological or psychiatric in nature? If their impairment is mental, most of your observations of their physical activity and the suppositions that arise from these observations will be meaningless. And if their condition is mainly physical in nature, you will, most likely, not be privvy to witnessing the effects endured later as a result of physical activity. In other words, individuals with severe hypertension, back problems, heart conditions, seizure disorder, emphysema, cancer, etc, etc, still engage in certain routine daily activities and your observation of this does not invalidate their state of disability. In essence, you probably don't understand the nature and limitations
that are inherent to their condition.

4. Finally, and most importantly, do you know what the term "invisible disabilities" refers to? If not, you may wish to research this. In fact, you may wish to read this post that I wrote quite some time ago.

I just learned that m granddaughter who has lived with me all her life , I have court appointed conservatory management of her which is permanent and gives me total say of everything that applies to her . her biological mother is drawing social security for the child .I al so have the little girl on disability for some mental issues she has . I need to know what to do because the mother has no authorization to be drawing anything on her . she recently contacted me saying she would give me the money if I would change how I handle her seeing the child and let the child come o her home which is 1000 miles away . I told her I didn't want her money and that she should not be getting any money on the girl . I do not want what she is doing to affect the child's disability check so this needs to be handled very quickly .

Before you REPORT an alleged FRAUD to Social Security, maybe it would be best to know that before being accepted FOR Disability, people who RECEIVE it must file MEDICAL PROOF beyond a shadow of a doubt that they HAVE a disability OR illness... Social Security DENIES claims that are filed frivolously and each individual case takes 5 MONTHS to resolve (with the payee receiving his/her first check 6 MONTHS after applying)..... I too receive Social Security Disability payments, HOWEVER, to LOOK at me, you wouldn't think I had ANYTHING wrong with me. I can do ALMOST everything I did before I got sick, but I DID get sick---with two TERMINAL ILLNESSES.... In other words, just because someone doesn't LOOK sick or LOOK disabled, that does NOT mean that they AREN'T sick or disabled..... When you apply for disability payments, you MUST submit doctors authenticated PROOF that you have something wrong with you.... I had MY cardiologist photocopy my ENTIRE CHART... they want test results, letters from ALL your doctors, you fill out form after form after form and must document all statements made regarding to your "disability"...... IF a person's disability improves, the payee is SUPPOSED to notify the Social Security Administration and their case will be re-evaluated..........(some disabilities are not ALWAYS permanent)....in MY case, I KNOW that every year the Social Security Administration will want some sort of doctor documented proof that my condition has NOT improved in order to keep receiving payments....the PAYEE may not even know that the SS Administration is contacting the doctor...... HOWEVER, based on everything I have said here, if you STILL feel you are JUSTIFIED in turning in this person for possible FRAUD, you have that right.... BUT know that this person did NOT just get HANDED the money without proper justification... You MAY find yourself greatly EMBARRASSED if you are totally WRONG about this person's situation.... like I said---you don't always have to LOOK sick to BE sick----No one would believe that I have even ONE terminal illness to LOOK at me, but I've not only GOT the proof, I've seen it all AND still see the doctors EVERY SINGLE MONTH... so don't judge a book by its cover and if you make a "book report" MAKE SURE YOU READ THE ENTIRE BOOK.... get the picture/???

im so upset that people can get on disability and claim injuries , when they haven't worked enough in their life to deserve the benefits , working for 1-3 yrs doesn't intitle you to get benefits , then having a lot of lawsuits over a period of time for something they did delibertly (getting hurt) then turning around and getting a lot of money .but yet I cant do this and I cant do that but all the while they are fighting it they are doing their everyday things , like mow the yard , cleaning yard , climbing ladders , bowling , riding a motorcycle which they clearly said I cant extend my arm out to do all these things also 4 wheeler riding and going on rollercoasters if they hurt so damn back they couldn't do it . as they have stated for years in the battle for disiblility they don't deserve . I know ppl that have worked all their life and cant get a dime (denied) because they have movement of all their arms and legs and can bend over when will the fraud stop and lawyers only fight it because the payoff is huge to them when they win . but let someone go out there and work ayear and all the while keep saying I had a 4 wheeler wreak I had a car wreak I got hurt at work . Boguss I say if u haven't worked for a number of years your shouldn't be able to get a dime a lot of ppl out there have worked 40 , 50 60 years and cant get a frigging penny because they don't have any health problems . and young ppl thinking they deserve it and file for disability because im bi polar or claim to be nuts and their whole family draws money off government im sorry but give this to working ppl that actually worked for a living . JUST A RANT . REALLY PISSES ME OFF . this ss will not be her for the ones that need it and there are way too many stealing from the ss administration as it is .
