I've just read someones reply. " I'm not racist but,"
Why the need to defend yourself before commenting.
The answer was not in the least racist, only someone concerned about their country.
Why are we walking on eggshells.?

Free speech is going away....and it's coming from the left. "Thought crimes" will be the new thing after "Hate Speech" is set into law.

You are allowed to say whatever you like as long as it doesn't offend somebody else. For example, if I say 'Islam is a backward religion', I am not allowed to say that because it would cause offense. You must always censor what you say so that others are not offended. Call it being two-faced, but it is the modern world we live in.

I'm not a eggshell-ist, but the metaphor "walking on eggshells" is racist against people who reproduce by laying eggs.
Many indiginous populations reproduced by laying eggs, until the West brought smallpox and TV and wiped out those populations.
Plus, vegans don't eat eggs, so your comment is racist against vegans. I know vegans aren't a race, but the concept is the same.

Alot of people have misinterpreted the first ammendment. This talks about freedom of expression. Most people also thinks that it means freedom from offense (in case you're not aware, it does not say this).

This is all the result of Political Correctness. Heaven forbid that someone should get their feelings hurt by hearing the truth.

Because ad hominems are powerful forms of attack, especially in a country where there are so many weak minded people that believe what they read and see on TV.

You can say what you like to whom you like - you just gotta take the consequences. Opinions are free - insite is not, slur, slander and libel cost too. Even an insult might cost you a night in Casualty.

David, you're not asking for freedom of speech - apart from slanders and incitements to crime we have that already.

You want freedom to speak your mind, without others having the right to contradict you or tell you that you're talking rubbish, or, yes, accuse you of being racist.

Why should freedom of expression apply to you but not those who don't like what you say?

There is a freedom of speech but there is no freedom of hate. Can you see the difference?

you can speak freely if you want to

but you run the risk of alienating your audience if you are not careful with your language

and if people quit listening, what you say can make no impact anyway

The lack of "freedom of speech" is due to "Truthful Tony"and his "New Labour"nanny state. He and his cronies have systematically removed many of our human rights.Mr G.Brown will continue on the same road.Remember this when it is time to vote!!!
