There are people donating money to this fund and I wonder why it is necessary. The Portuguese police are paid a salary as is anyone else involved in this search. The only money needed apparently is to fund these irresponsible parents around Europe, providing their accommodation and food etc. Surely this should come out of their own pockets - after all no-one forced them to leave their children alone.

Maybe if they had been willing to pay for a baby sitter, all this would have been avoided.

There is something quite sinister about these two and more and more people are obviously picking up on it. Normally, I would have every sympathy for parents in this situation and I feel a bit strange not feeling that for them. The only one I feel sorry for is the little girl.

There is much of a "business" feel about this whole thing.

God only knows what all the money will be used for, but to use it for their own comfort (if that's what's happening to it) is totally wrong

Why people are constantly feeling the need to donate further to a cause that hardly needs money to find Maddy is beyond me - afterall as you say, the police involved are all paid a salary & no other law enforcement has been brought in to help in the search......they're not even organising searches whereby money may need to be used.......People give money, light candles etc because it makes them feel better not because it actually does something though.

I can understand people donating money to disasters etc where money is needed, but surely in a case such as this - it only adds to all the confusion & speculation.
Unfortunately it will rebound right back in their face as quite soon now, accusations will start to fly & maybe even a law suit taken out in the belief that skull duggery has taken place.

Perhaps people who wish to show some kind of support should be directed to Childline or the NSPCC where it would do the largest amount of good.

I do agree with you that it feels strange to feel no sympathy for this couple. Normally, whilst not approving of them leaving their children alone, I would have thought they were paying too high a price for it and I would feel very sorry for them. I don't know why I feel such a strong aversion to them, but with each appearance or news report the feeling just gets stronger.
As they haven't spent any of the fund's money yet they should call a halt to asking for donations. If they are employing expensive legal reps then there is no way that the donations should be used for this. This is just another reason why they get my back up.

They have apparently employed a group of solicitors from London who specialise in child laws, there offices are at No 1 Hare Court London, it has at least 4 QC`s one of them won the prestigeous silk family award for top QC`s. These people charge hundreds by the hour, so i gues some of it will go to them. It is beyond me why they need to employ such a team of high profile QC`s unless they are expecting trouble......
I to think there is a business feel about this and my only concern is that child Madelaine....

it seems even the McCanns don't know what the money is for. I know someone who e-mailed them on the pretence of wishing to make a doantion, but she asked if they could detail where the money would be spent and the reply was very vague and mentioned administration and websites. Nothing at all about searching for the child.

I think the fund should be stopped now. It has been going on too long. Why has no other funds been setup for all the other missing children. I just find it very disgusting.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the money when this whole sorry mess is concluded one way or the other. And if it's never concluded then I suppose the McCanns will never have to account for it. Oh.....and never have to work again.
