The style is the writing stye. Is it informal? Formal? First person? Third person? Colloquial?

The format is the type of book. Is it a mystery? crime story? biography? academic book? cookbook?

Style and basically means the way the author used the English language to tranfer his ideas, via the written word, into Your conscious perception of Your interpretation of the self same idea.
Format relates to the way the plot is set out, how it is structured.
