My guess is that the parents are the types who "trust" their kids and therefore don't tell them no when they are doing something wrong, because they would rather imagine their kids aren't doing anything wrong. My mother-in-law does this. She has two teenagers still at home, one of whom everyone but her knows not only has sex with multiple partners and does drugs, but in fact is a drug supplier to all his friends. But when she asks him "Are you having sex?" or "Are you doing drugs?" and he tells her "no", she sees no reason to assume he would not tell her the complete truth about what he does. Usually after he says "No", he turns around and rolls his eyes and grins, like "My god, can you believe how easy this is?????"
The trend to trust your kids and believe everything they tell you is the truth, and to be friends with them instead of be the parent, I think, is at least partially responsible for the rise in teen pregnancy and teen drug/alcohol use.
I work in a portrait studio, and you would not BELIEVE the number of 14-year-old moms who come in with their babies. Last week I shot a high school girl's graduation picture, and one of the pictures included her in her blue cap and gown, and one in her six-year-old son in his blue cap and gown (kindergarten graduation). I was flabbergasted.

I don't know.. teenagers think they know everything and now they don't care if anybody sees their disgusting things that they do.. They're not ashamed of it!! It's ridiculous.. It seems the world is falling apart faster and faster.. But their parents sometimes don't even know what's going on out there.. until their daughters come home with a big belly!! Or their sons come home with a big news.. I'm socked they're having sex ah the mall.. because sometimes we just think that let your daughter go to the mall with friends can never harm or happend anything..
I feel afraid do have kids.. What could be normal in the future????

In my opinion, the parents aren't around enough. Also, because kids are having kids [& immature adults are having kids 2] & I don't think one kid can raise another. Another thing is, teen's priorities are usually not in order. for example, teens value & focus on becoming popular, having a bf/gf, etc. over getting good grades, getting into college, & planning their future. Its sad, but no matter how much some teens are warned, even by people who made the same mistakes once, they still go ahead & do it. Some ppl just can't learn that if you play with fire, you're going to get burnt. [by the way i'm 14 if that matters.]

Hello, I am a fourteen year old girl. And, I was just asking my mom the same question the other day. It seems that there are only a few of us, who actually care about what we do and we dont do disgusting things. It is so sad! I do not know what the world is coming to, I just dont. I am a roman catholic and I believe in the ten commandments and god and all that stuff is considered a sin. Sometimes, I think evol is conquering the world, and I am not sure how to stop it. God might end the world as we know it, because of all the evil in it.

It's so sad that we see the way that the world it. The age of responsibilty keeps decreasing. More and more "kids" of the ages of teenagery are not being held responsible for their actions. A lot of kids now-a-days don't have a good family structure at their homes. Parents work all the time, they have all this free time on their hands and have no one to hold them accountable. Kudos to you to see this and be disgusted. Because.... that is what it is... disgusting. When parents start stepping up to the plate and getting their kids to be responsible for themselves, then we will see a very big change start to happen in this world. Till then... it only goes to show that we need more people like you.

Hi, I love your sensitivity! It sounds like you are a very caring person who will make a difference in this world. When I see things that discourage me, I realize that I can either let it rob me of my hope, or use it for good. I can use it to push me forward to help where I can, pray for what is too big for me, and be the best that I can be! What ever good we can do is like throwing a rock in a puddle of water, the effects keep going. Pick a side, the good side, and do all you can for as many as you can, and you will begin to see a difference in the world around you! The world is beautiful, look for the beauty, start with the mirror, you care, you will make a difference!......

acknowledging that this generation HAS been very different from other ones, and how many teenagers have lost sense of morals, i understand where you are coming from. however, not all of us teens are like this. however, its these that get all the attention. (which make them do it more really). society should focus on the behaved teens.. ones that actually go out and are productive. (mission trips, etc.) and show the other teens that there are other alternatives to life. :)

Yeah, I'm disgusted too. I'm 15 and I can't say that I'm an angel, but my counselor said that I'm a product of my environment. I guess that's what's happening to kids. Irresponsible parents, trying to be cool, media influence, and drugs. Sad, sad, sad. :(

I think that kids these days are influenced by everything. Television is not helping either. With prostitues, drug dealers and thugs around us, kids think it is normal, or even COOL to act like this.
