Explain that it would not have been hurt - I assume you strapped the toast to the cat's back butter side up. Therefore
as a) toast ALWAYS lands butter side down and b) a cat ALWAYS lands on its feet, the cat/toast would simply hover a few feet above the ground, rotating gently....
