It's completely fake. Nobody in the whole world would ever tell you to just shut down the PC. CNN never announced (and Microsoft never modified) such an alert. Get rid of it, it's probably a trojan or a spam email..

nope.

it's a good idea to delete e-mail if you don't know who it is from, but most viruses require you to click on something in order for them to infect your computer

shutting down usually isn't necessary (or wouldn't help anyway) - if you do accidentally click on something that loads a virus on your machine, just go online and search for a free virus scan - determine what you have, and then search online for instructions or a program for removing that specific virus.

Avoid mccaffee and norton because they are a waste of money and will load a bunch of garbage you don't need.

there was very recently in the news, about a virus"trojan peacock.com. this version of trojan peacock .com is so far,the nastiest one that's ever been seen. It can get through your security system and start doing it's damage before your security system even recognizes it.. I was told as long as you do your updates with your security system you should be ok.So make sure,if you can't do your updates manually, have them set to auto.this version disguises its self to fool your security system, then once in,multiplies into other little nasties.
