I want to go away for a week to Spain next month alone, some people are telling me not to coz of all the terrible things that could happen, but in that case I'd never go anywhere not even outside my own door

I think you should go but make sure you keep in contact with all your family the whole time. I would be worried if someone close to me was going alone.

well if they mean by terrible that a bunch maybe ten or fifteen guys could grab you and take you tot he woods or their barn or their home and keep you there until your all used up by them using your body for their pleasure hour after hour and having drunks from the pub ( or farms ) to pay five dollars to use you body for ten minutes at a time and not let you eat anything except hot sausages all day and all night until you pass out or die. and sometimes they see how long you can take their farm animals after they are down with you. lots of fun and games
maybe that's what they mean? YES this stuff REALLY happens a lot, but the governments NEVER tell anyone, so they can keep their vacationers coming and coming ( and the locals coming and coming too) yes I really happens. then you or your dead body may never be found and if it is found it is on the side of some road naked and all used up
so I say GO all BY yourself, the locals NEED a pretty beautiful thing to play with

Go, Just make sure you educate yourself before going. Know where you will be going and what is nearby. Know where your embassy is and all that good stuff.

1 Are any vaccinations required?
2 What is the current currency and exchange rate?
3 Are there any problems (politics/war/disease etc)?
4 What is the power supply - do you need a current converter?
5 What is the infrastructure like - do they have adequate sewage and water purification or do you need to buy some water tablets? Do they have adequate local medical emergency aid?
6 How far to the local town - do you need to rent a vehicle or is there good public transport available?
Once you know all you need to know , pack up and go!
Hope this helps!

First of all, how old are you? If you're over 18, hell yeah you gotta go. And if you want to go by yourself, do it. You'll have a great time. I went to Ireland by myself when I turned 18, and planned on staying only a month, but had such a good time, I ended up staying 3 months. Don't let anyone talk you out of it. SHould you fear for your safety, then take someone with you, but son't cancel the trip altogether.

I have a close female friend who goes to Spain ALL the time by herself, and nothing bad has ever happened to her! I also have a male friend, and he visits his friends in Spain, and he says it's one of the safest countries in the world. And he's been almost everywhere! You only live once; for goodness sakes, take a chance! Just use common sense precautions!

Take a friend, I've been to Spain and would not go alone. Just ask someone, anyone that you could stand for a week. I vote for NOT going alone.

You need to make your own decision and not listen to these people. Have they ever spent a month in Spain??? If not, consider the source.

Go. Enjoy yourself. Have a great time. You'll regret it if you don't. There will always be bad things happening around the world. Spain is relatively calm. Go.

I think you should go. I am in the same boat though. I want to go some places abroad away and everyone keeps trying to stop me including my parents and I am 29!
Go and enjoy your life. Bad things can happen anywhere x
