Timing - that is all it is about. Some people have natural hand eye co-ordination and therefore can seem to be able to hit the ball better and harder. However, this does not necessarily mean they are a better batsman. It is far better to work on becoming a better batsman than a slogger. By training to hit 4 and 6's, you neglect other parts of your game. So, when you train, train to enhance your own abilities and the 4's and 6's will come. I am sure by working on and building on what you already have, you will benefit in the long run. For example, in relation to the person in your team that may be able to hit 4's and 6's. He could even score some 'quick' runs at times. However, in a pressure situation where time at the crease may be required, he is more likely to let the team down. I am also pretty certain that this same person will score far many more ducks that you if you look at your stats over time. Please do not compare anyone to Gilly. He was unique in that usually a hit miss technique such as his does not yield the returns he got. He was one out of the box so to speak. But having said that, Bradman hardly ever hit a six in his entire playing career and made 10's of thousands of runs!! Again, I know we should not be comparing anyone to Bradman, but I thought it was important to point out that he saw no point in hitting sixes. As he said, by hitting the ball in the air, you increase your chances of getting out. Hope this helps :)

Now I am showing my age (31), I know what a medicine ball is. I haven't heard that since I was a little girl though. I can hit a golf ball pretty far and a volley ball across the court. Does a shuttle from badminton count? If so, I usually hit those too hard and they go out the back of the court (I haven't played badminton in a long time). Thanks...
