My bathroom ceiling is peeling and has dark spots on it, I believe from moisture when showering, I do have an exhaust fan and never had this problem before. What kind of paint is available to fix this?

Install a fan. Buy them at Lowes and they're easy to install and run the vent to the attic and you can also tap on to a 110V wire going to your bathroom light fixture this way when you turn on your light the fan kicks on.

First, scrape the ceiling and remove any peeling paint... Wear face protection since it has mold on it.. wash your ceiling with TSP...Tri Sodium Phosphate available at most hardward stores...Let that dry and get a gallon of Kilz ...It will cover-up the remaining spots if any and seal the ceiling... Then paint with bathroom grade paint... Run the fan everytime you shower, if you can shower with the bathroom door open to let the moisture out...

Kilz is the paint you want to use for the bathroom primer. A tip - if it's an older home make sure what you have is an exhaust fan. Sometimes in older homes (much to my surprise) they have heat lamps in the bath room with a light and the fan you hear just blows the heat from the heat lamp and you may foind it is actually a closed metal box and does not vent anywhere.

where is the bath located? and who told you it couldn't be vented? anything can and has to be vented. That is one of, if not the biggest enemies of a building. moisture. anyway can you give me some more details on the situation? like where the build-up is the mold etc etc. I've been fixing peoples screw-ups for many years! Let me know, mabe some pics too. and I will be happy to help yah out.

you need something strong like keitlz (i think thats how you spell it)..it is known to cover up anything...will find by the primers....but i would make sure you try to find the route of the problem first so it doesnt continue till you get mold growth..make sure there is not a leak in your roof somewhere that could also be casuing this....when showering leave the door open also if your able and maybe a window to....

I installed a recessed wall heater 30 yrs. ago and use it every time I shower. I leave the door ajar or slightly open the window. I have never had a single case of mold (which is what you have).

if you have dark spots and paint chunks coming off i would have someone inspect your roof i had the same problem and i needed to replace my roof if you just want to cover it get kilz paint that will at least cover it up but the problem is not fixed

you should go talk to lowes or home depot. not just for the paint but you may need a differnt vent depending on the size of you bathroom.
