Why does Bush and ALL the Democrats support amnesty but only a handful of Republicans don't?

Bush has become a waffler. For some unknown reason, many politicians think amnesty for illegals is a popular idea. Actually, I wouldn't be against it IF we sealed the border FIRST and IF we only gave amnesty to those employed and law-abiding (other than the illegal entry)

But to give blanket amnesty BEFORE we seal the border is just plain stupid!

Wow if 75% of the American people (those who oppose the immigration bill) are a handful of Republicans, the republicans should be in good shape for the next election.
