And if you were a stalker, what made you be like that? What were your motives and justification?

I was stalked by a complete stranger. I worked in a bar and i had spoke to him. Just being friendly as you do in that kind of job nothing flirty. It got out of hand with him waiting outside my work. Watching me at the dancing etc. Eventually one night i was scared to leave my work as he was hiding in the bins. The police were called and i got escorted home. They new who he was as he had done it before with another girl. I have no idea why he done it but after the police were involved it stopped. they take this kind of thing very seriously these days. stay safe!

Like a lot of people I probably had the potential to be a stalker when I was a teenager. I had a mad crush on this guy in the sixth form and I was thirteen. I used to purposely take the long route home from school just so I could walk past his house, and I went to great lengths to find out really mundane facts about him like what football team he supported and his Dad's first name. I was quite lonely at the time, but in a weird way having a crush on someone I never even spoke to made me feel like I was with someone and wasn't so alone. I also used to project my own fantasies of what a perfect boyfriend would be like onto him - and he probably wasn't really anything like that in real life. But when you can't have a perfect boyfriend sometimes someone you can't have is safer, because you can tell yourself that they're just the way you want them to be without ever having to find out the ugly truth that no-one is perfect.
It never got very serious, I don't think the guy even realised I liked him, but I can sort of see how if someone who was already a little mentally disturbed was in that situation they could end up taking it to extreme lengths and getting completely obsessed to the point where they were actually a nuisance.

I was stalked by a stranger. It was the most terrifying thing I have ever experienced because I felt so out of control.I like to think I am a strong woman but he got under my skin.
In the end my brother in law and I set up a situation for him and then with the help of reinforcements , held him until the police arrived.
I know I was lucky because I don't live in the UK and the man was an expat where I live as well. So....
He did his time and was deported. Knowing he was back on the streets would have destroyed me I suspect.
As to why he did it.? He was mentally unbalanced and there is no clear answer to that.

Both i was stalked by a girl who i didnt get on with she would make malicious phone calls and threats then she starting following me home from school when i had my kids with me i was terrified bcos she was mentally unstable she would drive past my house about 10 times a day it was awful i ended up with agrophobia and wouldnt leave the house so i move .
I stalked my ex boyfriend after he left when i was pregnant mainly because i just wanted to know why he left me for someone else and he just ignored me i wasnt obseesive i would be nice civil and i just couldnt understand it it totally broke my heart he would get his girlfriend to text me nasty stuff and threaten me i resolved it in the end and its in the past and forgiven

I was kind of a stalker. I was madly in love with this guy who was a friend, I wanted to be with him every second of the day and I was really lonely at the time too. So I would drive by his house or place of work to see if he was there and I would look out for his car in places he frequented so I could 'bump into him' there. I was never out to hurt him or check up on him, I just wanted to see him and maybe spend time with him. Just crazy in love, I was.

I was stalked for about 18 months by a complete stranger....every day was a nightmare! He was almost caught twice by the police and they had a pretty good idea who it was but could never prove it! It stopped when i got a male friend to answer my fone. I think it was a client as i used to be in property but that was just a hunch! x

I dated a guy in high school, which was about 15 years ago now, only for about 3 months. I recently found out that he still carries our homecoming picture in his wallet. As if that wasn't creepy enough I found out that he is married with a new baby. Their child's name is the same as mine, born in the same month. I only have seen him maybe twice since high school and both times it was friendly but now I feel like I have to look over my shoulder everywhere I go. I'm not really sure myself what to do so I am interested to see your other answers.

Because of this I've become so paranoid and afraid to leave my house. Everytime I look in the mirror I see my stalker...I've alerted the authorities and I should be expecting to be placed in either protective custody or admitted to a psych unit any day soon..

when i left my hisband and took off to a shelter,he called all the time and drove by my work.then i got a house and if my car wasnt home he was all over town til he found it. he would stand across the street and watch us.we hid behind our doors until i deceided to divorice him and start dating. i had cops watching out for us,got restraining orders on any contact with me or our kids.whenother guys came by they knew about him.then i just started to live 4 me and the kids and prayed 4 god to do the rest.

I was watched and followed by my X he was very bad. he was a monster. I had him jailed several times and then he was in military i called his boss (commander) ever time they just put him in nut house every time to protect him fially he quit but hes nuts and we all knew this.I put a bond on him and slowly it was gone because he remarried and beat his wife up from then on. lol
