We have every control.
Each of us decides what love means to them at every moment of our lives, whether we do it consciously or subconsciously. The meaning will change as we ourself change, so we will be always redefining it, which is part of the reason we will fall out of love with someone even if they haven't really changed themselves.
So the way we've defined love and the way we perceive someone will determine our falling in love with them or not, and if we stay in love with them or not. Change either the definition you've given love at the time or the way you see a person, and then you alter your love for them.
This is also why it's easy to fall in love with someone you barely know, because you can perceive them to be the way you would want them to be in order for you to fall in love with them. When they don't meet your requirements for what love is to you any longer, then you either try to change them (or how you look at them) or you break it off with them.

Absolutely not! Love is a strange and peculiar curse....trust me I'm in a situation now that proves it! Go with what your heart says...It comes to a point when you have to stop paying attention to what others want or expect and start doing it for you...even if that means putting your heart out in the wind...hoping someone catches it before it crashes and burns.

If we did, no one would be in love with each other, there would be love triangles everywhere. You can't control it, and and while you can resist it you can't do it for very long. Believe me, I've tried.
