As a Christian, I have watched assault after assault on my freedom of religion in my own county. My children in school, can, do, and are in certain classes required to read, from and about, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and now witchcraft (harry potter) while at the same time denied the right to read or quote or list the bible as a source of info. My children are taught as “FACT “that they came from nothing, that life is nothing, and when they die they will turn back into nothingness, if they disagree they fail. Has anyone seen any attack from the ACLU on any other religion besides Christianity? This is not a debate on religion just on what seems to me to be a attack on only Christians.

Are you even suggesting that if a child cited to the Torah or Koran as an authoritative, factual source the teacher would accept it? Are you saying that the big bang and evolution are found in other religions' teachings? Or are you, perhaps, simply saying that you're a fundamentalist who wants your own beliefs to be taught as if they were facts, and people who follow other religions in this country are smart enough to realize that in the United States, that's not the way things work?

BTW, Harry Potter doesn't teach witchcraft. It's fiction, and has nothing to do with Wicca.

I agree with you. And the ACLU is attacking Christians. If they care about peoples rights, why are they attacking something that the majority of the people believe in to appease the rights of the few? The majority does not mind prayer in school or the Commandments hanging anywhere. The polls show that 86% of americans believe in God. So why aren't they representing them instead of the 14% that do not. Actually half of the 14% probably don't care one way or another. If the majority doesn't matter, lets let the ACLU pick our politicians. I don't push my religion on anyone, and I damned tired of the minority making the laws for the majority.

Prove it. You provide absolutely no evidence of this. If teachers were saying this to students in most schools they would be dismissed.

As a Christian, you should know the history of your church. Jesus was declared to be divine at the Council of Nicea in 325 A.D. Therefore, for approximately 325 years prior, he was not considered God. So much for Christianity. Also, the earliest Christians were actually a sect of the Jews, and there is absolutely no first-hand evidence at all of there ever having been a real Jesus. This doesn't mean he never existed - it only means that all of the accounts of his existence are second hand, and took place AFTER his lifetime - if he ever really existed at all. And please don't think I'm singling out Christianity - I think religious superstition of all kinds belongs in the past.

The ACLU does not attack Christianity. It attacks self-styled Christians who think that anyone opposed to prayer in the schools and the Ten Commandments on the courthouse steps must be in league with the devil.

I am reminded of one of Mahatma Gandhi's most profound observations:

I like your Christ. I don't like you Christians. You are so not like Christ.

Any school that is teaching materialism should be sued, just as any school that teaches creationism should be sued. I thought you Christians were organized, and I know that you have lawyers (shucks, Pat Robertson has a law school, and even though its graduates are all about as stupid as Monica Goodling, you don't need a whole lot of smarts to nuke the bejeezus out of a school district that does the things that you describe). So why would you not file the lawsuit? Are you afraid that the courts will uphold your position and deny you the ability to whine and moan?

Do something about the problem instead of blaming the ACLU. Remember that before Lemon v. Kurtzman, the State of New York required school children to recite religious prayers that were directly at odds with many faiths (including my own). You Christians are not the only religious people in America even though you act like you are.

Hey, I'll make a deal with you:

Don't pray in my schools and I'll promise not to think in your church.

Now don't get me wrong or mad or sad but this is my view. And for posting a question, then you will get positive and negative answers. Get real. Seriously. Stop trying to bring up worthless excuses that they are Attacking Christianity or what ever. What you believe in is YOUR business. It isn't attacking CHRISTIANS. It's because of what Christians do to get publicity is over rated! Examples. HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN. JEWS KILLED YOUR SAVIOR. Big deal, seriously. That was the past, take a poll and see how many people actually BELIEVE in God. The worlds changed, if your worried about your kids reading about other Religions and having a fear they will change their views, you've got more things to worry about. Our environment is being destroyed, everything is corrupt.
