I think the author is Bill Branley

SUMMARY
'Sea Changes' reflects the lives and surroundings of its characters as well as its author

An examination into the life changes and emotions of baby boomers, 'Sea Changes' features a widow, Peggy, and widower, Raoul, who despite vast differences in the ways they view and live life, find friendship and romance after meeting on a car ferry that shuttles between Bainbridge Island and Seattle.

Author Bill Branley created 'Sea Changes' from a serialized web log that he wrote while riding the ferry from his home on Bainbridge Island to his full-time job near Seattle. The original blog, called 'Peggy Finds A Friend,' started as a writing exercise. He observed the people he saw each day during his early-morning commute and created characters and a storyline based on them.

A native of New Orleans, Branley injected some of his own experiences into those of his characters, especially before and after Hurricane Katrina. When he had to travel there for the death of his mother in August 2005, he told the story from the perspective of Peggy and Raoul. The characters subsequently evacuated, and then returned a month later to help with recovery, as did Branley.

'Sea Changes' exposes Peggy, Raoul and their friends to other current events as well, including over-development of land and climate-change issues. There are challenges faced by the characters who are adults at mid-life: grief, self-indulgence and, when decisions are made, hope.

good luck
