If you go through human evolution, you will find such cases,although it is not common.

It may illustrate the animal nature of humanity, and zoology is the study of animals.

I'm not using the word "animal" in any kind of insulting context; I'm merely pointing out that unlike other 'kingdoms' of life, we animals need to consume other organisms for energy & nutrition. The movie points out that this law, largely smoothed over in civil society, is actually important and powerful enough to override all the laws we've learned in civil society about what is acceptable or moral behaviour.

It's not that long a time since the days when all humans lived hand-to-mouth, and either did things like this occasionally or starved.

human cannibalism for survival....that was a good movie, but it was sad. I couldn't imagine having to eat my friends to stay alive. I don't what that has to do with zoology, but that movie did make me think if I could do the same thing.
