You are right, I have the same feeling.

When I answer I write my point of view, but when I ask I have always in the back of my mind the following questions:

1- Is it intelligent/interesting?
2- Will it create debate, interesting answers?
3- Will I be able to be assertive?
4- Does it contribute for something?
5- Am I exposing myself too much or who cares (lol)

When at last I have to write it, perhaps I already lost interest (lol)

Anyway, I enjoy very much asking questions. It gives some kind of excitement to come back and see who has or has not responded ;-)

p.s. And by the way this was one of the questions I wanted to ask, now I don't have to worry anymore ;-)

I agree, I find lots of fascinating topics, but I felt I had to distance myself from the topic when I asked a question, so I could listen to all sides of a question and the responses, and try to evaluate the best answer, so I didn't pick the one that fit my idea of the "answer". But now I feel okay about asking a question with a "point of view", but I still like to pick an answer that helped me learn something new or again, or forced me to look at the question differently. I find all sorts of studies and articles but it can be hard to form a question about them, but lots of people here are very informed and intelligent, so the answers can be very very good, if I can figure out how to ask an intelligent question about what I've read!

Ok I feel like a lone soldier lol, I find the opposite is true for me, I have an easier time coming up with thought provoking questions, as I have been inquisitve since i was a child, and I'm especially a fan of being the devil's advocate :-) anyway, i find it harder to answer questions personally, because there are so many very smart well informed and educated people on this forum it's hard for me to come up with something I would consider good enough to contribute in addition to other answers.

good question btw :-)

Interesting you say that...I've often thought the same thing myself. I have a curious mind, but I guess that it doesn't apply here.

Mind you, the other problem is that you open yourself up to pot shots. I'm certainly not a sensitive person, but in asking a question recently...a perfectly reasonable and non-confrontational one...it was used as an opportunity to criticize me in general for the answers I've provided previously. I do my level best to not judge others or make answers personal, but I haven't experienced the same kind of reciprocal respect. I realize that my views may be considered controversial and might offend some - but they are never personal and hey, they are MY views...and isn't that what this site is all about?

I ask one when I have one. If I look something up online and don't find it, I ask others. I think the challenge part for me is the intellectual q gets lots of answers. And the practical qs only get a couple answers and they aren't very specific. So, yep to your q.

I have a lot of trouble with that too. I guess I just never know how to put my questions into words. Plus, it's nice to get a good discussion out of a question, and I never know how to ask those sorts of questions. Some folks have a real talent for it, it seems.

I read through the questions and I am drawn to many of them because they tweak me emotionally. I try to ask questions that are intelligent and that will encourage people to think outside the box. I don't ask that many questions because it is usually about something that I want to learn and a lot of time you get more annoying answers that make little sense then anything that is useful or teaches you something new.

That happens when people doesn't read or barely study, beside they have a lack of the natural curiosity which everybody should have. There are so many undiscovered or dark themes in the life that must motivate everybody to ask and investigate. We are in this world full of innovations because humanity have had curious people and have asked other or themselves.

Yes, you're right.
It is very hard for me to come up with an interesting enough question without (as another poster said) stirring up the Trolls and mean mouths.
I really like answering much more.
Great question.
Good Luck

If you have a question to ask - ask it. Someone out there might have some workable advice and some will undoubtably give confusion-based answers. Then there's always the option of prayer...
