i'm obvoisly not talking about polls and stuff, it's just i was all set to answer a Q about dolphins but somebody had already nailed it so i didn't bother, would you answer if someone had already wrote what you were about to write?

then again, i have done it before just for the 2 points, what about you?

I don't bother answering if I see a question that has been answered in such a way to cover all that is needed to know.

I especillay hate it when people answer questions that require say a one word answer (i.e. someone wants to know the name of a song or artist). And the question has about 20 responses all with the same answer and people still carry on answering - what is the point?? It is pretty clear what the answer is.

If it's just a daft question then I'll put a daft answer without reading everyone else's answers, because it's an easy 2 points, but if someone wants a serious answer, I'll check the other answers first as it's pointless parroting someone else.
If I come across Q's that have been open for days and already have loads of answers, then I'll add a simple yes or no or any random word just to get an easy 2 points.

Do you ever answer questions if you know someone has already answered them right?

Not for the extra points. Sometimes I answer them because: 1. The answers may be wrong or 2. they may not have enough information in them. I find that a lot of the time, if I explain things a little more rather than saying, "yes" or "no" I get chosen as the best answer because I put some reasoning behind it.

Most times if it is a cut and dried answer that someone else got, why bother. The asker should be giving the points to the the first person that got the answer.

Sure, I'll answer, especially if I think I could add to the debate. But then sometimes I just like to be a bit of a smart a**.

Personally, I don't see the point of answering a question if it's already been answered correctly, but it's up to the individual to decide.

I try to answer the questions before I read the other responses, then if I see a similar answer to mine, that means we are thinking on the same level.

I do it all the time, but every now and again I get the email from Yahoo saying that I have violated the CG's, but it is usually blatant that I was just going for points
