Good question! Because the administration prefers to operate in secret, we can't really tell what their foreign policy might be. One day Vladimir Putin curses us, and the next, he's hugging Bush and praising him. Vicente Fox and Bush had a similar series of exchanges several years ago. Apparently, a great degree of vacillation is involved. Since Condoleezza Rice replaced Colin Powell at the State Department, our foreign policy has been more about style than substance - she jets around the world, posing for photo ops, but I don't recall any diplomatic breakthroughs, or even successes worthy of mention.

Our war on terrorism is likewise hard to decipher - we claim no terror is outside of our reach, but clearly bin Laden is, and while we try to bully Iraq and Iran, we meekly wait for North Korea to come around. Perhaps our worst foreign policy stance, that we can invade a country pre-emptively in order to fight terrorism, opens up a Pandora's Box full of questions about semantics, reciprocity, international law, and even the value of using military force at all. But our use of kidnapping, secret prisons, and torture leaves us in the position of defending terrorist tactics ourselves. The "Sleeping Giant" was awakened by 9/11, but this time around, he has been too clumsy, stupid, and hypocritical to earn anyone's respect.

Overthrowing democratically elected leaders and installing dictators.

-Chile & Iran, for example.

Of course, supporting corrupt dictatorships (like the Taliban and Saddam Hussein under Reagan) also doesn't win us any friends either.

I think people around the world have come to believe that we have no core values, but will do anything to help our corporations. And that's a shame - because while we have some bad deeds in our past (and present), we've also done (and continue to do) some very good things as well.

Invading other countries is the worst foreign policy of the United States. It is a violation of the sovereign existence of other countries.

We gotta quit sticking our noses in other people's business. We can't fight everyone all the time. Our resources have worn out. Other countries gain, so let them get their own oil, food, whatever.....
