Letting them? In case you haven't noticed, once elected their agenda becomes, how do I advance my personal wealth. Both parties suck. Register Independent, vote the person and the issues, not the party. Term limits, we need to stop these people from being career Washington politicians, they can't seem to withstand the draw of money. Vote out all incumbents every election, that will help them to be more accountable knowing they have very little time in congress.

Part of the problem is that the democrats still don't have enough votes to override Bush's veto pen.

the gov't will spend regardless of who is in Congress..
it's easier to do than anything productive..

we have no voice in a representative republic..just a vote.
