I have a computer I would like to access my wireless Lan with but do not have a card. I have the router laying around and would like to use it instead.

Some routers can be set to client mode but MOST can not. You need a wireless bridge or adapter card.

You can check on the netgear site to see if your model can be set to a "client" mode in which case it becomes a wireless bridge and can be used. (most netgears are not setup that way however.)

A router is one part needed. To use it wirelessly you need to activate the wireless capability at the router.

Next you need a wireless card in the pcs you wish to join the network. Each pc needs one. Some notebooks have this built in; some do not.

You need to configure the wireless card to be consistant with the settings on the router. You also need to implement all the security settings or freeloaders and hackers will find you and disaster will result.
