Steve Waugh. Kapil Dev has already been coach of the India but due to some controversy regarding Match Fixing had to quit. I have a feeling None of the mentioned above by you will be selected by the BCCI though. If you asked my suggestion it would be Mohinder Amarnath.

Our very own Kapil Dev will be the best coach for the Indian team because,
1. Kapil being a legendary cricketer and the captain of India's only World Cup winning team ill command respect from all players irrespective of their stature. No cricketer would take liberties with Kapil.
2. Kapil's sincerity and devotion is to the game is unquestionable. So also is his patriotism. Kapil will give more than 100% for the coaching of the Indian team. No player would think of shirking from their jobs under Kapil.
3. Being Indian, he is familiar with the thinking of Indian players, unlike foreign coaches. Language too wouldn't be a problem.
4. He would be a great help to Indian fast bowlers with his rich experience and record.

According to me coaches r not necessary because the players themselves have to go on the ground and play. Once Kapil Dev himself said that coaches r not necessary.Players like tendulkar,Ganguly and Dravid have more experience than any coach and can help the young players to provide them guidance.Even 1983 worldcup was won without a coach.

When I am ready to take up the assignment,it is unfortunate that the BCCI has not approached me.To coach the Indian Team is the easiest job in the world. If the players are not adjusting, the duties of the coach is to send e-mails to the Board and if the players are not performing well, it is the duty of the coach to blame the pitch, weather etc.

They dont need any coach. Already there are loads of talented persons in there. All they need to do is to organize themselves and play as a team. India will be unbeatable.
