Thats all the media is. A brainwashing tool. I hate the media. And they glorify violence too. How many people know who did the shootings at Virginia Tech? Probly about 80% or more of America. But not that many can name one person who was shot. Same with Columbine. And the World Trade Center. Everyone knows who Osama Bin Laden is but can you name at least 10 people who lost their lives?

Very Much So! The majority of people, I'd say 70% believe what they hear, or read. Sad to say but the government uses the media all the time to pull the wool over our eyes.

I believe it is the greatest influence on people.
Have a look how society has changed since the media industry has boomed! Sex is high on the agenda... look at how young girls dress now.. copying their idols in music video clips and the O.C..
It gives people a guideline and influences how they want to be and act, dress...etc.. day to day.
The news has to power to make us believe things about our society.. i.e. making out black people are thieves and gangsters...
The media has impacted society so negatively!

You fall foul of the newspapers and they will hound you relentlessly.
Stop reading newspapers a long time ago - only listen to news on radio or tv

Sure...see the citizens of USA, they are so driven by the media to the point that I am so amazed by how little they know of my region (middle east), and even the things they know are mostly an improper representation of the true facts!

duh! Ask some random person on the street why we are at war in Iraq. Most will tell you because 9-11. Because 9-11 was drilled into their heads by the media. That is also why everyone is talking about Little Miss Drunk Skeleton (Paris Hilton), because it is drilled into their noggins.
