Wow, what a variety of opinions here! Here's my input:

1. According to the laws of physics, if you're made of mass, you can't travel at the speed of light anyway. So in some sense it's pointless to speculate about it, unless you've got a new set of physical laws up your sleeve and can explain how they work.

2. The electrical signals in your brain don't travel at the speed of light. It's not like a copper wire. The electricity travels by means of ions (atoms with an excess charge) being pumped from one cell into to the next, along a train. The speed of these signals is at most about 200 mph. (see: http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2002/DavidParizh.shtml, for example)

3. Well, let's say you're traveling at 99.99% of the speed of light (that is permitted by physical law). Ashleigh and moppetshow correctly recognize that this won't make any difference to your mental functioning. Within your space ship, everything seems normal, and it feels like everything _outside_ is zooming past you at 99.99% of lightspeed.

4. septer_01 brings up the interesting point that thoughts are not of a physical nature. Well, in some sense that's true; just as computer software is (in some sense) not of a physical nature. However, computer software requires a physical "medium" in order to actually "exist"; and as far as we know, the same is true for the relationship between thoughts and brains.

5. pucckuu asks "could your ideas be travelling 2 times the speed of light?" I'll bet this is a trick question; I'll bet pucckuu already knows that the answer is "no". The way you add speeds together is different when very high speeds are involved. So it turns out that the sum of two speeds is never greater than "c".

Since brain functions are electrical in nature, and electricity travels at the speed of light, your ideas should have no problem keeping up with your brain. The physical issues of traveling at light speed, however, are an entirely different matter.

No, your ideas won't travel at the speed of light. Instead, some will be left here on this earth, while you will be some where near Proxima Centory and one day, the time will come when you will be without any idea because your ideas will be travelling at the speed far less than light and they, at this rate won't be able to locate your direction in this huge limit-less space. So, it is possible that your ideas would go in different directions or will take too much time to reach you. One day you will reach some planet where alians might be living and when they will see you and talk to you, they will know that you are an 'idea-less' person and they will think that your brain is useless because it is not producing any ideas. This could make them to reach on conclusion that our race of homosapians is worth nothing and our brains are going to extinct as our tails did because we are not using them to produce any ideas. you know that each of us had one tail, but we did not use it and it got extincted. So I request you not to travel at the seed of light. This act of yours could very possibly damage the intelligent image of earthlings in the minds of alians.

I got a question for you that will answear yours and give you something else to wonder over.

Your brain sends signals like electrical impulses that travel at the speed of light so if you were travelling at the speed of light could your ideas be travelling 2 times the speed of light.

No. Your {and I take it You are going to take it with You} brain is already traveling at the speed of light.Think of Your thoughts as being a letter inside an envelope addressed to Albert Einstein. Your brain being that envelope. Which arrives in the letter box first? The letter? Or, The envelope?

Your brain would also be travelling at light speed. This is why you don't slam against the back of the train carriage when you jump. Theory of relativity and all that.

The ideas are not of a physical nature, they are metaphysical meaning they consist of no matter or mass therefore they would not be affected by the speed you are travelling, think of it like this, light is the same as thoughts, if light had the properties of somthing physical then we wouldnt be here (it would kill us instantly, 300,000/km.s) so thoughts are not affected

Gravitational time dilation states that component is going slower in bigger gravitational fields. the way i see it (please remarkable me if i'm incorrect) is that an area of area without gravity might retract whilst severe gravity is by surprise cutting-edge. Therefor in case you have been in area, you may witness the comparable area frames of area being retracted close to Earth. to place it extra ordinary, in the journey that your physique in area develop right into a million kilometre long and you travelled at a million kilometre an hour, needless to say you may trip the gap in a million hour. Your chum in the international might witness precisely the comparable element along with his physique. a million kilometre long, a million kilometre an hour. the version between the two separate frames from a 0.33 point of view is that the physique close to Earth has quite retracted (reduced in size or bent), which comprise the human (the human has been born into an area of gravity, technically the single in area might amplify). meaning that the two people does not be conscious something distinctive however the circumstances may be. you may desire to bear in mind numerous issues that persons overlook. a million: Clocks are synthetic and stable therefor they gained't retract with area as area is in simple terms vacuum. people interior the area station boost taller as much as six centremetres according to annum (approx). 2: area suits are worn via people, if no longer the human might amplify and clearly die. Spacesuits are extra dense than area. 3: each thing retracts in direction of gravity why might area be distinctive? a guy on the age of 18 is taller than years later whilst he's 80 one. we are knowledgeable to be attentive to that he shrinks with age yet why? as a results of fact gravity over the years has retracted him. wish this is clever as this is a no longer elementary subject remember to communicate approximately. you will locate extra in concept of Relativity.
